Body Work Massage

PhysioWhat is body work massage?

Using a combination of Western (Swedish & Deep Tissue) and Eastern Techniques (Thai & Acupressure Points) of energy healing. Bodywork massage is used to release chronic muscle tension, loosen muscle tissues, release toxins, eliminate scar tissue, and get the blood and oxygen circulating properly, through slow strokes and deep pressure or friction. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins. Each session can be tailored to the individual depending on their requirements.

This is a perfect therapy for the individual who seeks a muscle intensive massage. This massage concentrates more on specific areas of the body and is ideal to help relieve discomfort or pain in affected muscle groups or areas. This technique is great for someone who has a recurring area of the body that needs special attention and relief.

During your massage I typically begin with lighter movements to analyze your muscles and tissues and to determine which areas may require greater attention. Afterwards I like to provide you with some stretching tips.

What to expect before your body work massage

Once you arrive for your massage session, I will begin by conducting a short consultation, detailing your personal health so that I will know if there are any contraindications, or reasons that massage may not be advisable. After acquainting you with the massage room, I will leave to allow you privacy to undress and lay between the towels on the massage couch. During the massage you will be modestly draped at all times. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. A full body massage consists of massage to the hands, arms, feet, legs, stomach, upper chest, shoulders, neck, and back.

What to expect after your body work massage

After the massage is complete, I will leave the room to allow you privacy to redress. Dangle your feet off the side of the massage couch for a minute or two before attempting to stand, as massage promotes the release of toxins from body tissues. Upon return, I will bring you a glass of water, as it is very important to drink lots of water after the massage to help flush toxins out of your system. We can then discuss how you are feeling after your treatment followed by some aftercare advice.
