What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health care profession which specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the neuro-musculo-skeletal system of the body (ie conditions affecting nerves, muscles and joints) using manipulation (quick but specific and gentle movements applied to the joints by hand)
as well as other supportive techniques for example soft tissue techniques to the muscles an ligaments. Chiropractic treatment is similar to osteopathy and in many cases there is an overlap in both techniques and conditions treated. Our reception team will be able to explain which would suit you best.
To normalise function to these systems, there by aiding natural healing of the body without the use of medication or surgery.
What to expect at a session
Initial consultation will involve a case history , physical examination, an explanation of diagnosis and treatment and if appropriate and with consent some treatment.
Subsequent sessions involve a brief chat about progress, examination and treatment which may include manipulation of the spine and or other joints as necessary soft tissue massage , stretching, mobilisation techniques, exercises and advice (some or all of the above)
Can I have Chiropractic on my private medical insurance?
Many private health insurance schemes give benefit for chiropractic treatment. Some companies will reimburse the total fee or pay a percentage of the costs.
